Abstract
This article studies formation of youth culture and cultural identity by focusing on their experiences and interactions in virtual social networks and use of the networks in their daily lives. This article is the result of research work on Tehranian young users of Facebook social networking site that has been done since 22 May 2015 to early October 2015. In this paper, the method of virtual ethnography has been used to explore lived experiences of youth involvement and interactions with social networks, the meaning and concepts related to them as well as the reasons and motivations of young people in these networks. The results of this paper in addition to illustrating the lived experience of social networks and the situation of using youth of these networks shows that presence on social networks as everyday life, provides space or potential for youth to form spatial type of culture and cultural identity. The most important dimensions of youth culture includes: Being reactive, individualistic, trans-gender, class-base, and consumerist.
