The study of local culture is one of the key areas in cultural and artistic research. Local culture encompasses shared customs, beliefs, narratives, and clothing styles that reflect the collective identity of a community. This study aims to analyze the reflection of local culture in the emerging handicrafts of villages in Qeshm and Hormoz Islands. The research is fundamental in nature and employs a descriptive–analytical approach. Data were collected through field observations, interviews with local artists, and library resources. Purposeful sampling was used to select representative cases. The main objective of the research is to identify the characteristics of Hormozgan’s handicrafts and to examine the influence of local culture on their formation. The findings indicate that emerging handicrafts such as earthen painting behind glass, fabric painting, and wood painting—alongside traditional crafts long practiced in the region—serve as a creative bridge between visual arts and handicraft traditions. These artworks are deeply inspired by the natural environment, color palette, and social beliefs of the local culture. In addition to their cultural and aesthetic value, they also contribute to the economic empowerment of local communities and are popular souvenirs among tourists visiting southern Iran. In conclusion, the interaction between local culture and contemporary art can be regarded as a sustainable cultural model that supports both heritage preservation and community development.
