This paper is an attempt to understand the causes of youth social networking in Tehran. Based on Uses and Gratification Approach, this study applies qualitative method in order to identify the purposes and motivations of social networks’ young members in spite of filtering. Findings through in- depth interviews with 20 professional users indicate that facilitating and reinforcing current relations, renewing old communication and making new friendships are the most motivations of the social networks’ users. The results illustrate that social networks are not political spaces in the users’ points of view but beside other effective factors, some political impacts are understandable in youth network interactions which are explained the end of the article.
