The present study aimed to design a model for the role of media literacy in promoting social capital in Yazd and used the grounded theory method and is a qualitative and fundamental research. Data were extracted from semi-structured in-depth interviews with 19 experts and theoretical sampling method was used to select individuals to achieve theoretical saturation. Following the interviews, the text conversion and data analysis process began, and line-by-line analysis was used for open coding, and along with the development of concepts and categories, axial and selective coding was performed. To validate the findings, four of Creswell and Miller's eight strategies (peer review, description of subject stereotypes and researcher biases, participant validation, rich description) were used. The findings show that if the context conditions (Message characteristics, audience conditions, media communities, access, media, recognition of norms) to be created and intervention factors (related to the audience, media, environment) to be controlled and appropriate strategies (media literacy localization, intelligent use, informed critique). And ...) be used. The desired end result (social capital promotion) can be achieved.
