This article will examine how life style and ideology are represented in Interchange ESL books in the Iranian institutions for English language. The article seeks a possible answer to two following questions: 1- how Interchange ESL books, treated here as symbolic forms of ideology as Thompson puts it, transmit their ideological training codes? And 2- how these books depict particularly American types of ideology and life style to look as natural and publicly-admitted life style? In order to answer these questions we will first perform a study on all four yellow, red, blue and green versions of Interchange books to find out how the dimensions of life style are represented. Then we will search for discoveries on patterns of representing a particularly American type of life style in Interchange books. We claim these patterns are used in Interchange books as a strategic agenda through which the American ideologies are transmitted to the ESL learners. Our argument will also cover the question of how the audience will interact with such texts. Methodologically, we will rely on the data collected from four focus group discussions. Then we will analyze reactions of the ESL learners to the content of these books. Some of the findings indicate that although these books depict the American ideology, life style and culture, the Iranian ESL learners necessarily do not give in to the instructions. Rather, they chose whether or not they would like to follow the American cultural codes and norms introduced by the books. In some instances the learners invent a cultural bricolage and appeal to it. <em> </em>

This paper is an attempt to understand the causes of youth social networking in Tehran. Based on Uses and Gratification Approach, this study applies qualitative method in order to identify the purposes and motivations of social networks’ young members in spite of filtering. Findings through in- depth interviews with 20 professional users indicate that facilitating and reinforcing current relations, renewing old communication and making new friendships are the most motivations of the social networks’ users. The results illustrate that social networks are not political spaces in the users’ points of view but beside other effective factors, some political impacts are understandable in youth network interactions which are explained the end of the article.

United Kingdom as one of the main colonial government has utilized the fragmentation as well as the state-building for pursuing their goals and their interests in different parts of the world.
The establishment of the Zionist regime of Israel in 1948 has been used for defending the west benefits in front of the Islam World. However most of the Israel citizens have come from different countries with different identities; they do not belong to the occupied Palestine, indeed most of them have immigrated to this land. The Israeli government has not capable to carry out the project of the nation- building in this country. The government has faced different issues, including ethic and religious gap, identity conflicts between religious and secularist, the minority of Muslim Arabs lived in the occupied territories of Palestine before 1948 (as the main problem for Zionist regime), the growth of inverted immigration, disruption of the population balance, and the advent of new deconstruction thought such as post-Zionism. The writers of this article have tried to investigate these issues.<em></em>

Rising of new media has developed a new era of media convergence. According to the “convergence culture”, new media is participatory media that users are content creator and participant. It seems change the culture of media consumption. The new type of TV use has created new TV audience that is multi-platform, participant, and active. This study followed the impact of the Internet on the TV in the age of convergence in relation to internet content production with a new type of TV use.
Using surveys in Tehran, these results were obtained: 65 percent of citizens are on-line content creator. The new type of watching television is influential among the audience. Also based on hypothesis testing, on-line content creation has a direct relation with multi-platform use, participation, and being active audience. This relationship represents unit convergence culture in the media. Internet has affected the television, not in decreasing its popularity; But in more interaction between traditional and new media.

Cultural diversity is an indispensible trend in today's world and has gained considerable momentum as a result of globalization and ubiquity of communication media. In this essay I attempt to provide a plausible answer to the following question: "given the fact that in the world today no society can truly achieve a monolithic culture, how would it be possible to draw up a cultural policy that would respect cultural diversity and yet fulfill the goal of national unity?" Criticizing various monistic discourses that insist on creation of a monolithic society and culture, a number of arguments are advanced in defense of cultural diversity and multiple identities. Relying on these arguments and in light of Iran's particular historical and cultural conditions, adoption of a cultural policy that is inclusive of various segments of Iran's society is proposed.
