The space of pre-modern cities and villages did not require any modern leisure for a variety of reasons. In this paper, based on three issues in leisure literature, namely, the relationship between the agent and the structure, the relationship between gender and urban spaces, and the relationship between modernity, lifestyle and leisure, an authoritative theoretical and empirical analysis of the real-life situation of women has been attempted.
